New Pastures Home
"Newport BID enabled us to transform the front of our shop, thanks to the support of a grant. We now have beautiful signage and a welcoming front-of-shop for our customers."
What we deliver…
Attracting New Businesses
We have leased two empty shop units in the city centre for use as pop-up shops for new businesses. We employ a consultant to help attract new businesses into vacant commercial premises.
The BID provides city centre businesses with a voice and a seat at the table in discussions with local and national governments. We regularly lobby the authorities on issues such as anti-social behaviour, drug-dealing and aggressive begging. In partnership with other Welsh BIDs, we successfully lobbied the Welsh and UK Governments on a range of issues during the Covid pandemic. The BID is represented on a number of city centre-related groups, including the Newport Offer, Safer City Centre, Newport Business Against Crime and Pub Watch.
With new developments and growing investment in the area the future for Newport is bright. This theme aims to make sure that you, as a committed and passionate business community, have a significant role in the future of our city. With a positive vision for the future, we will strive towards shared success.
City Centre App
We’ve partnered with LoyalFree to deliver a city centre app that features offers and loyalty discounts from businesses, trails and events. There is no monetary or admin cost to get your business on the app. Just email here for more information on how to register your business.
The app can be downloaded for free from their website click the button below.
Savings and Advisory Service
Run with our colleagues at Place Support Partnership, this service aims to save BID levy payers money on their energy, telecoms, merchant fees and other outgoings. Consultations with experts from our Savings Advisory Service are free to BID levy payers. To date, the service has identified savings in excess of £50,000 for businesses in Newport city centre. To start saving, just email here.
Training & Skills
We have provided or sponsored training on digital marketing, anti-terrorism, GDPR and TownNet radio among others. We continue to seek ways to provide BID members with free or discounted training.
Sport and Activity
We have worked with the Dragons, Newport County AFC, Newport Live, Run 4 Wales, British Transplant Games and others to encourage use of the city centre by visitors to key sporting events. We arranged for the Champions League trophy to be on show in the city centre ahead of the Cardiff final in 2017.
