Coronation shopfront challenge winner

Congratulations on this historic day go to RJ Phillips Interiors - winners of Newport Now BID's Coronation shopfront challenge.

The Bridge Street shop was named winner of our challenge by judges Nicky Vignoli - a member of the BID's board of directors - and Newport Now manager Kevin Ward.

Store owner Rachel Phillips wins a £100 Newport Now gift card.

Kevin said: "We were really impressed with so many of the shopfronts that have been decorated for today's Coronation.

"Special mentions must go to the Principality in John Frost Square, Hay's Travel and Belle Femme on Llanarth Street, The Pot cafe in Newport Arcade, St David's Hospice Care on High Street, and Hairplay on Baneswell Road. They all put huge efforts into their window displays.

"But we were most impressed by the thought, attention to detail, and imagination used by RJ Phillips Interiors.

"Their window display featured a stamp silhouette of the King; a tea party complete with Paddington Bear as a tribute the the late Queen; a crown, sceptre and orb; soft furnishings in red, white and blue; and bunting inside and outside the shop.

"For a relatively small shop window, we were really impressed how much work had gone into the display."
