Increased police presence in the city centre this Saturday

Please be aware there will be an increased police presence in the city centre this Saturday with two events taking place that will bring significant numbers of people into the area at similar times.

A pro-Palestine march will take place from noon, starting from the Faulkner Road car park and moving along Bridge Street, Queensway, Cambrian Road and Commercial Street before finishing at Gilligan's Island. The march is expected to attract a considerable number of people.

The city centre will also be very busy on Saturday with football fans attending the Newport County versus Wrexham match. Rodney Parade is a sell-out for the Welsh derby game.

The increased footfall from the football will undoubtedly be a business opportunity for many BID members, particularly in the hospitality sector.

The combination of both events will mean an increased police presence in the city centre for public safety.

If there are any changes to the planned route for the march, or any other updates, we will let BID members know via email and this website.
