Newport Now BID today launches the last of its summer family fun projects in the city centre.
The Newport Monster Trail challenges children to track down eight monsters hidden on shop fronts across the city centre.
The trail begins and ends at the Central Library in John Frost Square and includes shop fronts in the Kingsway Centre, Friars Walk, Upper Dock Street, Newport Arcade, Bridge Street, Commercial Street and Llanarth Street.
There are two ways to collect the monsters. You can download the free Newport Now app – available in the Apple and Google app stores – and head to the trails section and find the Newport Monster Trail.
All locations for the trail are on the app. Just scan the QR code next to each monster to collect them.
Alternatively, sheets can be collected from the library or any of the other venues that can be filled in with the locations of each monster.
Once all the monsters have been collected, children can return to the library (Tuesday-Saturday only) or The Place on Bridge Street and pick up a free story book featuring all of the monsters.
The book tells the story of how the monsters learn to be kind to each other. And there is a giant KIND message spelled out in giant letters in John Frost Square for the duration of the trail that is perfect for selfies.
The Newport Monster Trail runs until September 10.
The trail is the final Newport Now family fun project of the summer – adding to the pop-up picnic park by the river, the Urban Beach in John Frost Square, and the giant chair trail that runs along the riverfront and into Friars Walk. The beach is open until August 31. The picnic park and giant chair trail are open until September 10.
All four summer family fun projects have been installed by Newport Now BID thanks to funding from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund secured via Newport City Council.
